Editorial & Corrections Policy

How the articles in our journal are written, credentialed, sourced, dated, reviewed, and corrected.

Clinical authorship and credentials

Every article in our journal names its author with full credentials and links to a biography where those credentials can be checked. Most articles are written by Stephen P. Sweeney, PMHNP-BC, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Guest authors are identified by name and credential and linked to their own professional biography.

We verify credentials before publishing an author under them, and we do not describe a nurse practitioner as a physician, doctor, or psychiatrist.

When and how medical review is used

Some articles are reviewed by a clinician other than the author. When that happens the reviewer is named on the article. When no separate reviewer is recorded, no reviewer is shown — we do not attach a reviewer's name to work they did not review.

Evidence, sources, and external links

Clinical claims are grounded in government health agencies, professional clinical organizations, peer-reviewed publications, or official product documentation. Sources are listed in a References section with descriptive names and open in a new tab.

External links are provided for reference only and do not imply endorsement of any product, practice, or organization.

Publication, review, and update dates

Each article shows its publication date and its clinical-review date. Where no later verified review has taken place, the publication date is shown as the original clinical-review date. We do not display a review date that did not happen.

Material updates — changes to clinical guidance, dosing context, or safety information — are dated and noted in the correction log below.

Scope-of-practice transparency

Each article states whether its author is a physician/psychiatrist or a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, and whether the author practices at Turned Leaf Psychiatry. Guest authors are not accepting Turned Leaf patients unless the article says so explicitly.

Conflicts of interest and sponsored content

Our journal does not publish paid or sponsored articles. We do not accept payment for coverage, placement, or links. Where an article discusses a product or service that Turned Leaf Psychiatry offers, that relationship is stated in the article.

If an author has a relevant financial or professional relationship, it is disclosed on the article.
